An Goldie tells us what happened ‘On This day’.

Gerry began his radio career in 1997 with Outback Radio 2WEB. He worked as a news journalist, sports director and Monday request show host.
During his time there, he was able to speak to sporting greats like Australian cricket captains Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor, Wallabies captain
Steve Eales and Sydney Swans star Dale Lewis.

Gerry was appointed to his current position as 2NZ breakfast show host in 1999. He continues to enjoy getting up at 4:30am (not really) and talking
to his listeners weekday mornings between 5:30 -9am.

Probably will be remembered for his Phantom Phone calls during the early 2000’s, the sing-alongs and chats with former and current news readers
and his fund raising efforts.

He was awarded the 2003 Employee of the Year at the Inverell Business Awards and was the inaugural President of the Inverell support group for the Westpac rescue helicopter and the Inverell Saints F.C.
